The peaceful beauty of nature of coastal lands, the countryside and parts of urban areas is the predominant subject in the works of HCM City’s artist Nguyen Tuan Duc.
“I really love nature and want to express my feelings to viewers through my works,” he said.
Thien Nhien Xanh (Green Nature) is the theme of Duc’s first solo exhibition held at Tu Do Art Gallery.
The exhibition displays 21 oil on canvas paintings featuring landscapes of provinces where he has travelled, including Nha Trang, Da Nang, Binh Thuan and An Giang.
The 52-year-old artist uses pure, bright and fresh colours like green, blue, yellow and brown to record the beauty of the provinces in works like Cao Nguyen (Highlands), Lang Chai (Fishing Village), Duong Ven Nui (Mountain Road) and Do Thi (City).
Duc graduated from the intermediate level of the HCM City Fine Arts College in 1981, and worked for the UPEXIM Forestry Products and Handicraft Production and Export-Import Joint Stock Company since graduation.
He has several group exhibitions in the country.
The exhibition is at Tu Do Art Gallery, 53 Ho Tung Mau Street. It runs until Sunday, May 15th 2011.
